It’s always nice to get to this stage of a build. It means that things are almost done. Of course that is farther from the truth, as varnishing takes weeks!

This go around I varnished the cedar floor boards and seats. Usually I just do Tung Oil, but I started with a “Tung Oil Finish” by mistake. That kind of finish is basically mostly varnish. So I continued with 8 coats of “Lust” Clear varnish finishing up with two coats of rubbed effect Epifanes on the floor boards. They came out well. Nice soft finish. The seats got 8 coats clear then two coats of epifanes clear gloss.

Taping for masking took quite some time as the trim was very thin and needed careful attention.

8 gloss coats later it looks pretty good. I usually can get two coats a day on but the weather has not been cooperative so I had to do one coat a day much of the time. The down side of one coat a day is it needs a light sanding/steel wool pass or two before the next coat.
