I started by lofting the stem and the stern post. I didn’t feel it necessary to line off the entire boat in situ. The offsets would provide enough points to ensure the accuracy of the overall layout. I would lay out the molds directly on the MDF (since I had figured out the discrepancies in the offsets). It was pretty straightforward. I had to do quite a bit of scaling from the lines plans to fullscale as the offsets on the stem and stern were few and far between. But, they were enough to use a batten to get the right curves.

Using my full scale lofting of the stem I transferred the shapes onto a 1/4″ ply template with push pins, connected the dots with a batten, and I had my shape. Then I made some reusable stops for bending the stem laminations to the proper lines.
