It was now time to put the deck structure back into the boat and make sure it was complete before permanently attaching everything. Also, I needed to decide where all the deck hardware would be located as the decks would be 1/4″ marine plywood and the hardware would need backup structure for the screws and bolts. The hardware would include deck cleats, leads, traveller pad eyes, and oarlock sockets. I decided against running any lines below deck to simplify rigging.

Also, it was time to fine tune the mast rake at the mast partner and make a mahogany collar for the mast hole. I had to carefully scale the rake from the drawings. Eventually, both collar and white oak bow cleat would be well anchored to the 3/4″ fir below-deck structure.

After some final fairing everything was ready to be screwed and glued together permanently! It went together easily. Time to paint.
